Japan , February 2020

This trip couldn’t come fast enough, i have been battling a bit a creative block. As we all experience, things in life have waves. I was in a bit of a rut with getting stale of Social Media, posting and the pressures of living up to expectations. Japan for me was a restart that kicked back in my love for travel, capturing moments & experiencing the world in a completely different way!

Visiting Japan properly for a second time, and i must say it was better the second time around. The bizarre nature of this country will leave you speechless. It’s definitely something you need to experience first hand to believe. This trip popped up rather last minute, and there was no way i could pass up the opportunity to go. We were heading up to the mountains, which meant - 5-10 degree temperatures. I wasn’t equipped for these kind of temps. I managed to pop into Ballistics Snow & Surf to grab the bits i needed. Snow jacket, gloves & googles. Using my Gem Visa , the beauty of this card and one of the epic benefits that most likely doesn’t get used enough. Purchases over $250 grants you 6 months interest free to pay back. So for me, this worked out perfect. Please note , i do not encourage going into debt to benefit yourself, but i am a big believer in cheating the system ( legally ) . If you use credit cards in a positive manner they can be a life saver! Just like this instance.

We landed in Tokyo, for a couple of cheeky beersano’s and experience the bright lights of Shinjuku. Again, this place. WOW. After not much sleep we battled our way through understanding the chaotic Tokyo Station. We made it on the Shinkansen - a bullet train which travels 300km plus. Before we knew it we had arrived to Nozawa which we spent the next 6 days in waist deep power, eating some of the most authentic little restaurants i have ever eaten. Experiencing the best of Japan’s traditional culture , sleeping on futons and bubbling away in Onsen’s.

We then travelled to Kyoto, a beautiful Japanese city , which offered century years old history and some amazing sights. Japan we will be back. You have stolen a piece of my travel heart. Thank you for re connecting me to this crazy earth. Forever i will be grateful for your country.
