I have had an awesome year gallivanting around the world and visiting new places. I had never been to Fiji but always wanted to visit, so when Tourism Fiji reached out I jumped at the opportunity to explore this amazing island.

My girlfriend Dani and I flew into Suva airport, hired a car, and worked out way down the coast over five nights, staying at a new location each night.

We stayed in Pacific Harbour, Sigatoka, Nadi and the Yasawas; the key hot spots for anyone wanting to explore all Fiji has to offer.

The fast-paced trip included helping build a local classroom with The Outrigger Resort, visiting local villages, a helicopter ride, quad biking, swimming in crystal clear water surrounding Mantaray Island Resort, exploring the coral reefs and popping champagne bottles in the middle of tropical paradise. The Fiji dream and one hell of a week.

I travel to some amazing places and have unreal experiences, but what I really liked about this trip is getting to know the locals and experiencing how they live. I think it’s super important to give back wherever you can and we really enjoyed helping them in any way we could. Even though these people don’t have much, they are so happy and radiate positive energy, it was so refreshing.

The Outrigger Resort run a volunteer-based program where they invite guests to lend a hand by spending a few hours building classrooms for one of the local schools. They also donate what they can to fund the projects, a true ‘feel good thing’ to do while travelling.
